Some love stories begin with a spark. Diana and Michael’s began with a friendship — 14 years ago at church — and unfolded into something steady, effortless, and beautifully in sync. Life took them in different directions. Countries, seasons, and timing kept them apart. But sometimes love waits patiently for the right moment.

Years before they ever dated, during one of Michael’s visits to Los Angeles from Mexico, he and Diana shared a simple conversation at church. Diana encouraged him to stay in LA. Years later, he did — and that decision became the beginning of them.

first impressions (and second chances)

Diana’s first impression of Michael? “He thinks he’s all that.”

Michael’s first impression of Diana? He thought she didn’t speak English.

Safe to say — they both had a little learning to do.

But what started casually soon turned into something neither of them expected.

Michael knew it was more than just dating during their second date at the Pacific Airshow in Huntington Beach. Diana realized it earlier — on their first stop in Big Sur during their first week-long road trip together. She wanted to see if she could spend an entire day with him without getting bored.

She could. And she didn’t.

The moments that changed everything

For Michael, the defining moment happened long before their official beginning. That simple conversation years prior — Diana telling him to stay in LA — lingered in his heart. When he eventually made that move, their paths aligned exactly as they were meant to.

For Diana, it was a 3 a.m. phone call.

Working the graveyard shift, she called Michael during her lunch break, overwhelmed by something heavy on her heart. Without hesitation, without questions, he drove an hour to her job — and an hour back — just to give her a hug.

That’s when she knew.

Since then, their love has been built on laughter, dramatic board game battles, tender moments with their cats, and nights on the dance floor where they fall in love all over again.
